Chicago sends: Starlin Castro NYY 16:$7M, 17:$9M, 18:$10M, 19:$11M, 20:$16M CO ($1M buyout)
Boston sends: Jacob Nix SD - prospect 2017 6th round Minors pick
With some cap space open Tripp is willing to take on Castro who's been putting up decent numbers lately although it's been an up and down ride for him in New York. He could be decent value for a multi-position eligible IF in the coming years. Helps me with moving some salary following my deals to take on Pedroia and Blackmon. I knew he wasn't going to give up any top prospects and early picks for Castro but landing a former 3rd round pick who may or may not have mid-rotation in his future and a mid-round draft pick is a fair price to get in return.
Good dealing with Tripp. He's knowledgeable and always shoots from the hip. Win-win again.

Agreed. Castro has been somewhat of an enigma over his years in the bigs. He has potential to be a .300 hitter, sadly I don't think he ever reaches that. While his contract is gulp.....excessive, I hope hitting in Yankee stadium at least makes him a top 10 2B option for the future. Of course taking back a bad contract will lessen the return for Scott, but I've always like Nix, going back to his HS days. I think he figures it out and becomes a solid innings eater. Quick moving decisive Scott strikes again, pleasure buddy.

I thought you said the last one was your last one?! Evidently abstinence doesn't come easy! Co-commish approved, feel free to process on Fantrax. PS When I saw this trade I was a little surprised, but I hadn't properly realised how poor Castro's season has been. This was supposed to be his breakout but his zone contact rate has fallen by 5 percentage points (offset a little by more power, but still!). Now I've said that he probably goes wild RoS and in 2017
