Well, let's just start by saying I DID NOT want to trade Story. When talks between Scott and I started, it centered around a different player. When Scott indicated he'd be willing to pay big for Story, I named the price. After a few back and fourths this is what we came to.
Happ and Torres are looking like two more big bats for the Cubs in the not too distant future. I love their potential and they are each held in high regard around the MLB. Logan Allen is someone I regretted dealing early on, so nice to have him back.
I'm stuck in between building a monster for the future and competing now. This deal allows me to hopefully do both. I'm hoping Reyes comes back and produces numbers the Rockies or some other team whose schmuck GM decides to take him in a trade. Great talks with Scott. I will put out there that he accepted this deal while in bed. Dedication.

Agreed. Yep, probably the latest evening (or early morning) deal I've nailed down. As Tripp said, we were talking about another player coming my way and had essentially come close to agreeing on a deal, but then I swerved and asked about Story, knowing the price was big. So my #1 and #2 Cubs prospects are gone, and a young pitcher who both he and I are high on. Torres' bat is coming alive in the Cubs minors and by many accounts is their #1 prospect. I considered Happ their #2 overall prospect and just read last night that some believe he's in the Top 3 of 2B prospects right now. Allen came to me initially in the Kimbrel trade with Tripp before the season started, and now his continued stellar performance in the minors takes him back to the left coast in this package. Tripp has certainly bolstered what appears to be one of the strongest farm systems in all of Diamond Duos, I, II or III.
Jose Reyes, let's just say my being able to clear his salary helps me right now, in 2017, and I'm hoping I've replaced his bat on the bench for the last 2 months with one that will continue to put up some numbers. Being able to move him was a big part of the trade for me and I was willing to give up elite talent to do it.
Story is of course the key. He was worth 3 top prospects so my being able to clear Reyes and grab 3 other young players made this deal work for me. His May numbers were certainly down from his "Story"d April, but I'll gamble on him continuing to put up decent numbers with half his games in Colorado, plus K's don't count against us in DD3. He should help me in at least HR, RBI, R, and TB but I know my OBP could take a hit. As for the other cogs, Dickerson has a very hot bat in the minors right now and could be a helpful piece in the Padres not-too-distant future. Basabe is a young stud with a bat that many in the Red Sox organization are high on. Edwards could be a sleeper here. I actually missed out on claiming him when Tripp outrighted him to the Minors earlier this season. He should be back from injury soon and could be a nice late inning Holds guy with big K numbers.
Again, thanks Tripp. Hopefully I don't have to finalize too many other deals from bed at 2:30AM EST. That's what fantasy baseball does to some of us!
