Chicago sends: Javier Baez CHC 16:$0.5M, 17:$0.5M, 18:$0.5M, 19:$1M, 20:$2M, 21:$3M Kyle Hendricks CHC 16:$0.5M, 17:$0.5M, 18:$1M, 19:$2M, 20:$3M
Toronto sends: Jonathan Lucroy MIL 16:$4.25M, 17:$5.25M 4th round Minors pick in 2017 (previously was Chicago's pick)
Cub Sox will adjust roster to get within cap space within the allotted 72 hours if/when the deal is approved.
Pretty straightforward deal here. Toronto was looking for the two young controllable players in Baez and Hendricks. I felt I could afford to give up a quality starter (since the rest of my pitching has been strong) and a utility guy with great upside to fill one of my dire needs - a catcher. Lucroy not only catches but puts up good numbers in several of our offensive categories too.
Always great dealing with Clay. Hopefully this deal works out for both sides.

Yes deal came to pretty easy. We both had specific needs and were able to meet them both with this deal. Yes I like Lucroy but I have been in need of some younger players. Hendricks gives me a good quality starter on a good team and then if Baez gets his head straight or traded he could put up good numbers. Is he a bit of a gamble yes but if he pulls out put then it will be worth it.
Good talks Scott.

Co-commish approved. Good luck guys!
Also, amazed that Baez is still under control until 2021! But happy the contract is good (baseball reference agrees).
