Cub Sox send: Kyle Schwarber CHC 16:$0.5M, 17:$0.5M, 18:$0.5M, 19:$1M, 20:$2M, 21:$3M Frankie Montas LAD - prospect Tyler Alexander DET - prospect
Padres send: Anderson Espinoza BOS - prospect Tom Murphy COL - prospect Peter O'Brien ARI - prospect Mauricio Dubon BOS - prospect
Deal came about as I noticed Tripp needed to clear a minors roster spot after his previous trades this week. Basically all prospects here except Schwarber, who was supposed to be one of my franchise's foundations for many years to come. His injury has certainly hurt my squad this year and I gamble pulling in some other talent that's close to MLB now and felt it was a decent time to move the big bopper. Hopefully he comes back healthy for Tripp next year. Montas is a monster and hopefully he's back soon for LA, although Tripp thinks he's moving to the pen. I really like Tyler Alexander and he honestly could be the sleeper in this deal. Look at the numbers!
As a Red Sox fan I'm stoked to pull in Espinoza! I think O'Brien can be a nice offensive piece in the Majors, and maybe Murphy finally makes it as a catcher in Colorado soon. Dubon was a late throw in who I like also but he's blocked in Boston.

Scott hit it on the head. I noticed I was nearing my player limit and was thankful Scott made it easy and approached me. I like Montas a lot, but do believe he stays in the pen. He should be in LA soon to help the pen this year. He's an interesting piece tho as Jansen may leave in free agency, I could see Montas taking the closer role. There is a long shot he goes back to starting which would be cool too. Alexander is a nice piece too and should be a reliable innings eater that contributes in multiple categories, likely QS and WHIP the most. Schwarber is obviously my main piece coming back. Hopefully he comes back healthy in '17, cause we all know what he can do. Giving up Anderson Espinoza KILLS me. He's in running for my best pitching prospect (along with Reyes, Bickford, Fulmer, Taillon). But there comes a point where I need to cash In some specs for the MLB ready guys. Schwarber and Montas are just that, young guys in the bigs or close to it. But ohhhhh does it hurt like a bitch. O'Brien and Murphy are nothing to scoff about either. Both should be power bats. Dubon was throw in late but has plenty of upside Scott is fun to negotiate with. We've been working on a similar deal to this for a while. I expect more talks at some point
