Isn't Tony Zych a minor leaguer at this point? Can we nominate players short of ML rookie limits?

Hi Brendan- yes you can nominate minor leaguers here; Zych was eligible to be a keeper, and he was eligible to be drafted in the mini-draft. I guess it's unusual for a guy like that to be bid on in FA but there's no reason why he shouldn't be...

Any player Majors or Minors (as long as he's not a recent International signee who didn't sign with a team until after our Franchise selection) can be offered a FA contract. Only downside to Henry signing Zych to a major league contract now is that those are the terms. 5 years, $5M. If he releases him after 1 year then he will indeed owe 25% for 4 remaining seasons.
A minor leaguer as you know could be promoted in-season for $0 and then you control for 4 more years at $500K per. Plus you're able to non-tender any of these guys in an offseason at no cap penalty moving forward.

FYI guys - Silvino Bracho was/is Minors eligible but was also offered a FA contract here. Henry, Brian and Brent were all bidding on him as well. That's just another example.
