Greene and Kennedy agree to swap 2nd franchise selection position.
Greene gets Kennedy's 27th overall spot.
Kennedy gets Greene's 30th overall spot, plus Greene's 1st round 2016 mini Minors pick, and 2nd round 2017 Minors pick.
Matt's agreement to follow...

Hey all, as with any trade in Diamond Duos leagues, each owner needs to give his reasoning and thoughts behind the deal. This will allow all other league members, and in the case when it involves the Commissioner or a Co-Commish, it offers the other moderators insight in case there needs to be further discussion on whether to approve or veto. In most cases unless a trade is obviously too unbalanced in favor of one owner (when actual players are involved), it will pass. If too unbalanced in the eyes of The Commissioner and other Co-Commish owners, that would be the only time a deal may be vetoed.
In this case of Franchise Selection, I was trying to deal in the 2nd round with both Doug and Brian, but didn't have any luck. When we were down to 3 choices (Matt, Jason and myself) I made the offer to Matt - very late last night. He responded overnight, I saw this morning, confirmed with him, and then posted the deal.
My thinking is this. I was hoping to land either Chicago or Oakland, as Detroit was my 3rd choice of the 3. Having the last position I could not be sure that Detroit wasn't going to be the team left for me so I was hoping to trade up to secure one of my 2 other preferences. Chicago obviously has more major league talent, but they're also a lot more expensive with bigger contracts. I much prefer Oakland's minor league system to Chicago's, but my thought (after several hours of research, collaboration with other fantasy baseball contacts, and some back and forth on my end) was to go with the White Sox as a more powerful combo to match up with my Cubs. Looking at potential keepers this does put me in the range of having only $25M to $30M (ballpark) to spend on 7-10 players in our Initial Free Agency to round out my roster before the season begins. This is not a lot to spend and I will be hard pressed to sign some great free agents who'll be on the market. Other teams will most definitely have A LOT more cap space going into Free Agency, and I know I would have too if I chose the A's. But I decided to go Chicago X2 and see what happens.
In return to make the trade as fair as I could for Matt I offered him two draft picks which will be in addition to his keeping a maximum of 50 minor leaguers from his two franchises and his minors draft picks. My 1st round mini Minors draft pick this offseason will be at the end of the round since that will be reverse order of our 1st round franchise selection. My 2017 2nd round pick also goes to him and that could be a 1st round MLB draftee from next June, or it could be some unowned minor leaguer that Matt finds that could be a diamond in the rough. It's all in how each owner perceives and ranks minor league talent.
If Matt gets Detroit, he too will have a lot of higher priced major leaguers and paired with his Washington Nationals, he too might not have an abundance of cap space for Free Agency. If he gets Oakland, he gets a very good (in my opinion) farm system with 8-10 excellent top prospects AND will have so much available cap space which will allow him to sign pretty much any free agent he wants to.
Hope my reasoning for this deal is sufficient to everyone. Thanks.

For me, at this point in the draft, each team has its positives and negatives. I've researched contracts, fame systems, etc and was really open to any of the 3 remaining teams. When I was offered the trade, it only made sense to make the move forward 2 reasons; 1, I was open to any of the remaining teams so moving back was fine by me. 2, I was able to pick up a few picks along the way.
Hope this is sufficient for everyone. Thanks!

No problem with this trade just want everyone to be 100% clear on what is being traded. When you say 2016 mini minors draft you mean a minors draft for which the only players that are eligible are those that were passed over by their owners in the initial franchise selection, right? I sort of remember discussion of this but I don't see it in the constitution/rules.

Correct. I'm getting his 1st round pick in the end round draft we will do after keepers are set and then his 2nd rounder in the 2017 draft.

Yes, this mini 3 round draft will only occur this Winter, following everyone's declaration of initial Majors and Minors keepers. Each owner will have the chance to select any minor leaguers that are not kept by their parent franchises, and we'll do that in 3 rounds of 15 picks per round.
Every offseason following we will have a full 12 round Minors draft (will usually be in January), which is the first time owners are allowed to add June's MLB draftees to their roster. Those players are not allowed to be claimed in season and are only eligible for the following season's Minors draft.
