O's trade: C Blake Swihart BOS 18- 1M, 19- 2M, 20- 3M, 21- 4M OF Dexter Fowler STL 18- 10.5M SP Joe Musgrove PIT 18- 500K, 19- 500K, 20- 500K 2B Neil Walker NYY 18- 4.4M, 19- 7M Prospects: 1B Ryan McMahon COL SP David Hess BAL SP Sandy Alcantara MIA OF Randy Arozarena STL
to NYM Yankees for:
SP Max Scherzer WAS 18- 15M, 19- 35M, 20- 35M 21- 35M OF Aaron Hicks NYY 18- 2M, 19-3M 1B Greg Bird NYY 18- 500K 19- 1M, 20- 2M, 21- 3M
Reasoning: I approached asking about these guys (and of course Albies). I've been looking to acquire one more pitcher and some hitters due to several disappointing starts to the season (and injuries). Scherzer's contract blows up next year, but he's worth it for now. I love McMahon and Musgrove, but I just can't continue waiting for them to flourish. The Rockies have done McMahon no favors with the way they have used him (and Dahl and Tapia) this year, but hopefully he'll give TJ a bat equivalent to Bird down the road. Walker and Fowler are in the deal to help offset salary. Alcantara, Arozarena, and Swihart have talent and are just waiting for an MLB opportunity. Great deal TJ!

Agree. I swung a deal for Scherzer earlier this year hoping he’d be the key to a turnaround but my team is still wallowing at the bottom. So I figured getting out of his deal in the future isn’t bad even if he is the best pitcher in the game at the moment. I’ve always had hopes for Bird that have never materialized. I like the prospects I got, so I’m just going to try and readjust here.
