Chicago Cub Sox send: Eloy Jimenez CWS - prospect
Boston Padres send: Yuli Gurriel HOU 18:$11M, 19:$15M Kyle Wright ATL - prospect Estevan Florial NYY - prospect
The deal started out, what can I offer to get Gurriel? After some back and forth he offered Yuli and a couple other prospects (whose sum just didn't meet my prospect calculating factor algorithm) for Jimenez. I was not thinking about trading a consensus Top 5 overall prospect but when Wright and Florial came into the equation, my keeper arms, which had been held tightly around Eloy since the inception of DD3, loosened and I felt my return in this package was very good. Tripp gets a monster bat who's coming soon to a South Side field near you. I get a solid MLB bat in an awesome lineup and two very good prospects.
Corresponding roster move coming on my end since I believe this deal would put me one over in my Minors.
All in all, smooth dealings again with Mr. Tripp. Go Cub Sox!

Agreed. Damn Scott and his effing prospect algorithms. Yes, this deal started at simply Gurriel for specs. With prospect number limitations and believing in my farm system, I didn’t feel like dropping any of them in this particular deal. Thus, we got creative.
I love Eloy, always have, always shall. I think he’s a game changing bat that should contribute in multiple areas. Giving up wright and Florial due to stinking #math hurt, hurt a lot. I recently acquired both for a reason, because I’m a huge fan. Maybe that’s what lessened the blow, I haven’t had the time to grow attached. Maybe? Yeah I’ll go with that.
Entertaining and reasonable talks with Scott per the usual. #mathnerd
